Candidate for United States House of Representatives – District 4
Monty Lankford is a loving husband, father and grandfather. Monty is a small businessman in Middle Tennessee is running to represent Tennessee's 4th Congressional District in Washington. Monty and his wife of 32 years, Shalia, have five children and five grandchildren. Monty is a graduate of Free Will Baptist Bible College, where he received a BA degree.
Business
In 1996, Monty started TLC Medical Oxygen & Hospital Equipment, Inc. (TLC), which currently operates twelve locations in Middle & East Tennessee, several of which are located in the 4th Congressional District. TLC provides healthcare services to over 10,000 patients. TLC employs approximately 75 people and was published in the "Business TN" magazine as one of the Fast 50 companies for 2004. Monty is recognized nationally as a leader in his healthcare industry and has been recognized in numerous industry news magazines.
Community Service
Monty has served in multiple church leadership positions and is highly respected among leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention, as faith is the most important aspect of his life. Monty and his family are active members at Thompson Station Baptist Church. Monty and Shalia have led several marriage retreats, as well as taught Sunday School. Monty is a graduate of Leadership Franklin and the Williamson Co. Sheriff's Academy. He also serves on several non-profit boards and committees.
Organizations
Monty is a current Board Member of The Tennessee Family Action Council, an arm of Focus on the Family. Monty is a member of the National Rifle Association as well as Tennessee Right to Life. He has been actively involved in several grassroots campaigns in Tennessee including Fred Thompson, Bill Frist, Lamar Alexander, and Bob Corker for United States Senate. Monty recently served as Regional Finance Chairman for Senator Fred Thompson’s presidential campaign.
In 2007, Monty was recognized as Republican of the Year by the Williamson County Republican Party.
